CEDAR Release 1.0.6 now available

April 1, 2017

Today’s release of the CEDAR Workbench is version 1.0.6, and it offers a number of new capabilities.

CEDAR Publication element typed with NCIT Publication class

Features in This Release

Template and Element Type Annotations: Template creators can now add one or more class types to templates and elements. (This is like the previous feature adding types to fields.) These types can be selected from publicly available ontologies in BioPortal, and help describe the template or the element using a unique controlled term.

Nested Element Naming: Elements nested inside templates or other elements can now be given user-friendly names. In the editor, these names will appear at the top of the element, helping you show the organization of the form to users. So if you really like that Publication element, but your community calls it Research Publication, you can make it look just right for their purposes.

RDF Representation of Template Instances: CEDAR's REST APIs can now return an RDF representation of template instances, rather than the stored JSON-LD. This relies on a standard JSON-LD-to-RDF conversion library, one of the reasons CEDAR chose the JSON-LD format to store its instances.

Simplified Representation of Template Instances: And if you like JSON, but not so much the complexities of the linked data version, CEDAR's REST APIs can now return a simplified JSON representation of template instances, with all JSON-LD markup removed.

Administrative User: Finally, to give the operators of the system more power to support you, CEDAR now supports an administrative user that can perform administrative tasks. As we add administrative capabilities to CEDAR, we'll be able to help you faster and better so CEDAR can do more of what you need.
